If the Philips DPM 8000 professional digital voice recorder is inconvenient or not accessible, use your SmartPhone to send your voice dictation to your office. Once your voice files have been received, transcription is performed either by a human being or Dragon NaturallySpeaking / Dragon® Medical Practice Edition. And what’s more, attach photos from your SmartPhone to your dictation.
So exactly what are the applications and benefits for you? And quite simply, how does it work?
Benefits of a Philips Mobile Dictation Solution
The Philips Dictation Recorder SmartPhone application resides on your iPhone, blackberry, or android phone. If you find carrying another device, such as the DPM 8000 digital voice recorder, cumbersome, then then using your SmartPhone as a digital voice recording device is an advantage.
If you have a priority dictation requiring transcription while on the road, without access to a tablet or computer, creating a voice file on your SmartPhone will certainly address this urgent need. Simply dictate into the application, and send the file to your office for immediate transcription.
Speakeasy Solutions cautions that some individuals find using a SmartPhone for recording their dictation not ergonomic or comfortable. In such instances, we would recommend continuing to use the very ergonomic and comfortable slide switch functionality of the Philips DPM 8000.
We also caution that complete reliance on a SmartPhone may not be advisable for those who need to perform a great deal of dictation throughout the day, without an opportunity to charge their phone. Between phone calls, checking email, and dictation, a phone’s battery can be drained fairly quickly.
Who Uses a Philips Mobile Dictation Solution
You may be a lawyer who has just left a meeting, with a need for an urgent letter or memo to be transcribed and issued.
Perhaps you are a medical practitioner performing rounds at the hospital.
You may be an insurance adjuster who is on site, taking photographs and making notations on a claim.
Or you may be a building inspector on a walk-through, recording deficiencies.
Virtually anyone who finds taking physical notes cumbersome, or wishes to augment paper checklists, will benefit from a Philips mobile dictation solution.
If you already possess a Philips DPM 8000 digital voice recorder, there are times where you may have some critical dictation while on the road. In such instances, your SmartPhone can be used to transmit your dictation immediately, addressing this urgency.
How the Philips Mobile Dictation Solution Works
Record your dictation, adding up to 5 photos to the audio file (if desired).
For additional routing options (based on your Philips SpeechExec Pro software configuration), associate any necessary keywords with the file.
Choose to send your file via email, Philips’ Dictation Hub, or your company’s Mobile Server:
- The email option routes through your configured email (sender and recipient). This option does not allow for any workflow or configuration with the Philips SpeechExec software. The audio files must be opened by third-party media players (i.e. QuickTime or Windows Media Player).
- The Dictation Hub option routes through the Philips SpeechExec Dictation Hub, which is preferable for smaller offices. This option integrates with the Philips SpeechExec Pro software, automatically converting the file format into standard DSS (also usable by Dragon NaturallySpeaking/Dragon® Medical Practice Edition).
- The Mobile Server option routes through your company’s established SpeechExec Enterprise Mobile Server, which is preferable for larger offices. This option integrates with the SpeechExec Enterprise solution, automatically converting the file format into standard DSS (also usable by Dragon NaturallySpeaking/Dragon® Medical Practice Edition).
Once the dictation file has been received by your office’s SpeechExec Pro or Enterprise solution, the file will be accordingly transcribed either by a human being or Dragon NaturallySpeaking/Dragon® Medical Practice Edition — based on SpeechExec’s configuration.
